Langsi is the Thai vocabulary app that teaches you in context, not with flashcards: real sentences instead of isolated words, so you learn Thai the way it's actually spoken. Unlike Duolingo, there are no games, leagues, or endless learning paths to distract you — and unlike Anki, you don't have to build your own learning system. You focus on what matters: understanding vocabulary, using it in context, and actually retaining it long-term.

Thai vocabulary works differently from most languages you might have studied before — and that's exactly why memorizing word lists rarely works on its own.
Thai is a tonal language: the same syllable can mean completely different things depending on pitch. The word 'mai' can mean new, burn, wood, silk, or a simple question particle, depending entirely on its tone. Langsi marks the tone on every word and example sentence, so you're never guessing — and you can hear it spoken correctly every time.
Thai script also doesn't use spaces between words. A sentence like "ฉันรักแมวมาก" looks like one continuous string of characters to a beginner, even though it's really four separate words. Before you can read fluently, you need to learn how to mentally segment sentences — which is exactly what Langsi's word-by-word breakdown trains, sentence after sentence.
Because Thai script takes time to learn, Langsi shows every word and sentence in Latin transliteration with tone marks alongside the original script. You can start speaking and understanding immediately, then gradually get comfortable with reading Thai characters as you go — no need to master the alphabet first. Thai also uses classifiers — special counting words that change depending on what you're counting — and shifts noticeably between formal and casual registers depending on who you're speaking to. These aren't edge cases; they show up in nearly every real Thai sentence, which is why Langsi always teaches vocabulary inside full example sentences instead of as isolated words.

Most learners can handle everyday conversations with around 800–1,000 core words used in context, plus a working sense of tones and sentence structure. Langsi prioritizes exactly this kind of high-frequency, real-use vocabulary instead of random word lists.
